Southern White - NA

Southern White
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
Not Available.

My friend took a reference photo from a Southern bouquet and turned it into a card, which I've now turned into a painting. Thanks, B.

Simple Pansies - SOLD

Simple Pansies
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10"

I revised these simple pansies, from an earlier painting that didn't sell.
I've always liked this one and it's even better now.

Cloud Reflections - SOLD

Cloud Reflections
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $40.00 plus shipping.

A simple, clean and sunshiny landscape for today. It's nowhere in particular.

Daisy Bouquet 2 - SOLD

Daisy Bouquet Two
Oil on Canvas Panel, 9" x 12"
SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping.

No, I didn't get another handful of daisies. I did this one back to back with the first, and just haven't posted it. There is more focus on the flowers in this one. But I used the same colors, and it's very similar.

Gazebo at Brookside Gardens - SOLD

Gazebo at Brookside Gardens
Oil on Canvas Panel, 8" x 10"
SOLD at $35.00 plus $5.00 shipping.

The post below this one shows a fellow painter at Brookside Gardens, toiling away. This is what she was viewing. After she left, I took her spot, and managed to get a quick study of one of the many gazebos at the gardens. It was a glorious day to be out painting.

Spring Hydrangea - SOLD

Spring Hydrangea
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 8"
SOLD at $25.00 plus $7.00 shipping.

I don't know anyone who doesn't love a beautiful blue hydrangea. Aren't they lovely?

Dappled Path - SOLD

Dappled Path
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
SOLD at $85.00 plus $15.00 shipping.

I've done this one before in a square format and in smaller sizes, and it has always appealed. Something that we all like about the invitation of a path, not knowing what's in the distance, but sunlight and open spaces.

Plein Air at the Chevy Chase Women's Club - SOLD

Plein Air at the CCWC
Oil on Canvas Panel, 11" x 14"
SOLD at $15.00 plus $10.00 shipping.

I did this one as a demo at class, and wasn't thrilled with the results. But then, I wasn't keen on the plein air piece from Brookside either, and the response to that one has been surprising. Hmm. So I decided I'd post this one, and see what you all think. The azaleas were gorgeous that day, and it was clear and bright. A few of my ladies did try their hand at plein air.

Rock Creek Spring - SOLD

Rock Creek Spring
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
SOLD at $115.00, includes shipping.

I'm happy with this one. It has a good mood to it, sunny, fresh. I like the rocks, which have nice shadow colors, I think. It's one of my favorite subjects.

Painting at Brookside Gardens - SOLD

Painting at Brookside Gardens
Oil on Canvas Panel, 11" x 14"
SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping.

What a glorious day to be out painting. I sat in the shade across the path from my fellow painter, and watched 10 little goslings follow their parents around, into the water, then out and up the hill, then back, and repeat. So cute. The post above shows what she was painting; I took her spot after she left. Thanks, KB, for being my model.

Pears and Polka Dots - NA

Pears and Polka Dots
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
Not avaialable, revised.

Before I eat these pears, I figured I'd better paint them. It's been a rainy week here, lots of showers, seems like on a daily basis. Not a good week to get outdoors to paint.

Coral Iris - NA

Frills and Folds, Coral Iris
Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 12" x 12" x 1.5"
Revised 7/18/2011

This one will be continued around the sides, top and bottom, so needs no frame. Of course, this kind of canvas is more expensive to begin with, and costs a bit more, weight wise to ship. But there's no fuss when it arrives, it just pops onto the wall.

Pink Iris

Pink Iris
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
Available at $65.00 plus shipping.

From one of my new iris photos. There were some beauties at Brookside Gardens this year, I hope to go back tomorrow and shoot a few more.

Soft Winter Colors - SOLD

Soft Winter Colors, Revised
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping.

This one sat for awhile, and then got sold, revised, not sold, and so I've been saving it to post again. Simple, serene and aren't the colors lovely? The colors are actually a bit richer than this photo shows.

Frilly Lavender Iris - SOLD

Frilly Lavender Iris
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $60.00 plus shipping.

It's time for irises, and I've been spotting them all over, sometimes where I can stop and take photos, and sometimes just as a drive by. I'll be doing some new ones this week.

Cloud Study - SOLD

Cloud Study
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 16"
SOLD at $60.00 plus shipping.

This one was just such fun to paint. It's always good to study clouds. Done by request.

Daisy Bouquet - SOLD

Daisy Bouquet
Oil on Canvas Panel, 9" x 12"
SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping.

I am so pleased with how this one turned out. I'm using the combination of cerulean, orange and white, for the shadowed petals, and some cobalt and white for freshness.

Daisies - SOLD

Daisies
Oil on Canvas Panel, 6" x 8"
SOLD at $25.00

I picked up a new grey from an old (1976) book on floral oils by Charles Reid. It's cerulean and cad orange mixed with white, and it makes a wonderful, soft grey. If you are a painter, you might want to try it. It would be super for clouds too, I think.

Gerbera - SOLD

Gerbera
Oil on Canvas Panel, 6" x 8"
SOLD at $10.00 plus $5.00 shipping.

I never know what to do about the paintings that really don't turn out. I wonder if professionals just ditch their "dogs" and move on to the next. I know some painters scrape and begin again. But at the end of the day, I figure I'll post for cheap, let you guys decide if it's good enough or not. Tomorrow's another day. Tomorrow is plein air, yay! Going to Brookside Gardens.
