The little one was done by request, but I used the wrong size canvas (oops!) and since I had all the nice blues out, I added some purples, magentas and lavenders and did a square format also. So, both are available.

Afterwards I went to visit an old friend and art broker, Marilyn Klevit (of Marilyn Klevit Fine Art.) So it was nice later today to just do an easy, happy little landscape.

Is Your Life Like...? Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $85.00 plus shipping. This was a tough one, all those little edges. But I'm happy with the way it came out. Once it dries, I want to go back and clean up the white edges on the bowl. What I'm asking is "Is your life like a bowl full of cherries?"

Cherries are in season, Yay! One of the advantages of working small is less space to cover, and the big disadvantage is having to paint so tiny, use tiny brushes, and take such careful aim with your hand. A nice little change from the sunflowers.

Sunflowers on Mauve - SOLD

Sunflowers on Mauve Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping. Another sunflower painting. This time I tried treating the petals as "masses" instread of petals, and that seemed to work better. There's no way around it, though, the edges in these guys take a lot of manipulation. I think a break from sunflowers tomorrow will be in order.

Sun Faces - SOLD

I think my sunflowers are still good for another try, so it'll be more of these again tomorrow. I tried a different method today, outlining the petals first and starting with the shadow colors, but it wasn't quite right. Another try tomorrow.

Sunflowers - SOLD

Sunflowers Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20" SOLD. I had a request for sunflowers, and saw some beauties at the Whole Foods market in our downtown Silver Spring area, so picked these up. The lady was nice enough to let me split the bunches to pick and choose the best ones. You'll be seeing more of these guys, but not so big as this painting. Sunflowers are really difficult to paint, I haven't figured them out yet, but I'm happy enough with this first one of the series.
