Hydrangea Blossom - SOLD

Hydrangea Blossom Oil on Canvas Panel, 10" x 10" SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping. I am using up old canvases again, recycling old paintings. This one used to be two trees, done for practice from Elizabeth Tolley's book, an exercise and never posted. I sanded it down and used what was left over as an underpainting.

Complicated iris

Complicated Iris Watercolor on 140 lb Arches paper, paper size 15" x 23" image size 13" x 20" Available at $75.00 plus shipping. A bit of a long and narrow piece, but also nice to do a watercolor once again. The photo I worked from was "busy," so the watercolor turned out "busy" also. I think it might appeal to someone, though. The colors are rich and striking.

Pink Iris 9 - NA

Pink Iris 9 Oil on Canvas Panel, 10" x 12" Not Available. This one a bit smaller and a little more carefully rendered. We're almost done with this series.

Pink Iris 8 - NA

Pink Iris 8 Oil on Canvas Panel, 10" x 12" Not available. This one has the more delicate colors again. I used a large brush on this one, so it stayed pretty loose.

Pink Iris 7 - SOLD

Pink Iris 7 Oil on Canvas Panel, 10" x 12" SOLD at $30.00 plus shipping. This one got a little more colorful. The parade continues.

Pink Iris 6 - SOLD

Pink iris 6 Oil on Canvas Panel, 10" x 12" ASOLD. I like this one. I found a shape of another colored iris that I really liked, and borrowed it for the shape here. That worked!

Pink Iris 5 - SOLD

Pink Iris 5 Oil on Canvas Panel, 10" x 12" SOLD. Another one with soft colors. Slight changes from the earlier delicate iris in this series. Number 3, I think.

Pink Iris 4 - SOLD

Pink Iris 4 Oil on Canvas Panel, 10" x 12" SOLD at $30.00 plus shipping. Another in the Pink Iris series.

Pink Iris 3 - SOLD

Pink Iris 3 Oil on Canvas Panel, 10" x 12" Sold at $50.00 plus shipping. I was steering towards delicate on this one. You know that almost white soft pink color? I'm not sure how successful I was with that, but I do like the background a lot.

Pink Iris 2- SOLD

Pink Iris 2 Oik on Canvas Panel, 10" x 12" SSOLD Another in the pink iris series. Fun trying to see how many subtle shades of pink I can come up with. I plan to do about six or seven of these, and the collector can then pick and choose from the set.

Pink Iris 1 - NA

Pink Iris 1 Oil on Canvas Panel, 10" x 12" Not Available. I'm trying to get back into the swing of painting, and slowly getting better from my fall. Still hobbling around with a walker, but each day is a little better, a little less pain. This may be part of a four iris series for a commission, I'll see if the collector likes it.

Rocky Creek - SOLD

Rocky Creek Oil on Linen Panel, 6" x 6" Sold at sale price of $10.00. This little linen panel was so slick to work on. Maybe becasue it's oil primed, but I did want to try linen again. It could be also that I've forgotten how to paint. That happens when you're away for a few days. Slowly getting better.

Small Peony - SOLD

Small Peony Oil on Linen Panel, 6" x 6" Sold at Sale price of $10.00 I am borrowing my daughter's computer again, since mine has died. You don't want to know how long it takes me to hobble sideways up the stairs, leaving the old lady security of my walker at the bottom of the steps for my return. Since troubles come in threes, I am waiting to see what's next. Meanwhile, I have been able to get out to the studio to paint a bit,. This one is actually more purple pink (fushia) than it looks here on this monitor. SALE: Because it is difficult for me to paint and post right now, I am having a "Make an Offer" Sale. I will accept any reasonable offer for the paintings that have not sold. If you have seen a painting that you like, but it was a little too much, make an offer now before it's gone. Simply scroll backwards in the blog to see what's still unsold. Thanks, everyone, in advance.

Magnolia 5 - SOLD

Magnolia 5 Oil on Canvas Mounted on Board, 16" x 16" SOLD. This one was a long time in getting done, as I just couldn't find single canvases in 16" x 16". I did find them at Jerry's (where I do some online ordering of art supplies) but I would have had to buy two boxes of 6 each, I think it was. I finally went to Lowes, where a very nice guy named Tom cut a huge sheet of masonite into pieces for me. (Thank you, Tom!) It took quite some time with him kneeling and measuring, and I really appreciated it, so gave him a business card for his wife and a little discount promise. I like the way this one turned out, and it feels good to have one more request completed.

Drapery Study with Plums - SOLD

Drapery Study with Plums Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14' SOLD at $60.00 plus shipping. Sometimes you have to wait a while to let a painting speak, as it were. This one never quite hit it with the pear, and this weekend it just said "plums" and so I revised it. I like it so very much better now. I also revised the background color to harmonize with the other colors, ahhh, much better now. And extended the back bit of drapery to look more natural. This is how it looked before:

Little Waterfall - SOLD

Little Waterfall, from the Creeks of Home Series Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10" Sols at Sale Price. Another small creek painting. I am just enchanted with the colors of the water in creeks, where the light shines through and shows the color of the creek bed underneath. It's a nice little series for me. Thanks for looking.

Bowl of Beads

Bowl of Beads Watercolor Pencil on 300 lb Richeson Watercolor paper Image size is 7" x 11" on 11" x 15" paper Available at $40.00 plus shipping. Happy Mardi Gras, everyone! It's a big deal here in Louisiana, the kids had Fat Monday and today off school. Our first time experiencing the traditions of Mardi Gras, some of them anyway. Like King Cake, which I'd never heard of. We walked up to the end of the neighborhood on Saturday to watch a parade go by, people on horseback, people in the LA version of floats (flatbeds decorated, and toting people, barbeques, port-a-potties), all of them throwing treats to the crowds: we got plastic cups, small toys, lots and lots of strings of beads, candy, stuffed animals, you name it. People passed out beer, jello shots, yes, lots of drinking going on too. All very happy and friendly, and you're supposed to call to the folks with treats "Throw me sumthin, mista!" So we have a thousand strings of beads around the house, and I took pieces of my babysitting time yesterday while my daughter, sil, and his visiting brother went to New Orleans to draw this bowl of beads.

Rocks and Ripples - SOLD

Rocks and Ripples Oil on Canvas Panel, 9" x 12" SOLD at $35.00 plus shipping. Isn't this fun? It was fun to do as well. I guess once you do two or more it becomes a series, so it would seem that I am doing a "creek" series, which is just fine with me. I think they are wonderful to paint. This was from one of my Maryland creek photos, a small sectional of one photo. It was very swishy to paint.
