Pansy Face - SOLD

Pansy Face Oil on Canvas mounted on Board, 8" x 10" SOLD at $20.00 plus shipping. With a nod to Georgia, I thought I would try a smooth, blended rendition of one of the pansy faces, from close up. And this is how it turned out. Thanks for looking.

Pansy Faces - SOLD

Pansy Faces Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 10" Sold at $60.00 plus shipping. It's the time of year when the hanging baskets and potted plants start appearing in front of the grocery stores. I couldn't resist some of these happy faces. Thanks for looking.

Calligraphic Clouds - SOLD

Calligraphic Clouds Oil on Canvas Board, 6" x 8" SOLD at $40.00 This little sunrise landscape is just a made up sky scape, with a focus on brushwork. I tried to use the brush like a sketching pencil, and the marks seemed almost calligraphic to me. It's a fun way to paint, very quick. I did more deliberate painting on the bottom, but mostly this was done with the side of a flat brush. Thanks for looking.

Lavender Iris Two - SOLD

Lavender Iris Two
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
Sold at $75.00 plus shipping.

This one was done by request, and is on hold for the sister of one of my floral collectors. It's a little more purple than the first lavender iris, and I also used more blue. Thanks for looking.

Leeks with Pepper

Leeks with Pepper Oik on Canvas Board, 8" x 16" Available at $75.00 plus shipping. I really like this color combination, the red and green popping off each other with the nice blue-gray and whites. Now to figure out what to do with the leeks! Almost too pretty to eat, I'm thinking of painting them again. Thanks for looking.

Daffodils in Green Jar - SOLD

Daffodils in Green Jar Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 10" SOLD at $40.00 plus shipping. Very odd thing, that yellow iris petals give me no trouble, while little daffodil flutes give me no end of trouble. I had to wipe out twice before I was able to paint something that looked even a little like a daffodil. More practice, I think. I like the composition here though. Thanks for looking.

Little Green Jar - NA

Little Green Jar Oil on Canvas Panel, 10" x 12" Not Available. I was actually looking for blue glass objects to paint, when I came across this little gem of a jar at one of our gift shops. The other jars are not as interesting, but I really enjoyed working on the little guy. Thanks for looking.

Princess Iris Two - SOLD

Princess Iris Two Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" Sold at $75.00 plus shipping. This is another of the same pink iris as two days ago, but here I've gone a little more rich on the pinks, since it's for a little girl's room. (Brighter colors.) Are you all getting weary of the parade of iris paintings yet? I promise, something else tomorrow. Thanks for looking.

Pink Roses Set - SOLD

Roses for Amy Oil on Canvas Panels, 6" x 8" each. Sold at $75.00 plus shipping. This one actually gave me some trouble, several sections had to be wiped out and redrawn, then repainted. But in the end, this was very satisfying to do, maybe beause of the collector, who is a dear, and who wanted this one for her niece. It was also fun to work on two panels as one. I'm not really clever with manipulating the blogger program, so I've shown the two separated in the post below. Thanks for looking.

Pink Roses Diptych - SOLD

Pin Roses Diptych Oil on Canvas Panels 6" x 8" each SOLD.

Princess Iris - SOLD

Princess Iris Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $75.00 plus shippiing. This one was painted with the leftover mixes from the pink clouds yesterday. plus some new ones. It just reminds me so much of a "princess type", with swirling pink skirts, hence the name. It's more complete than my sectional paintings, but it just seemed to want to be painted that way. Thanks for looking.

Pond Light - SOLD

Pond Light Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD This is a pond in South Barre, which I've used before, but I like the light in this image and wanted to practice painting water today, as well as clouds. Thanks for looking.

Pink Clouds - SOLD

Pink Clouds Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping. Sky practice today, with lots of lovely pink and lavender and orangey mixes. Enough left over, in facr, to do a painting of pink irises tomorrow. Thanks for looking.

Wauwinet Shadows - SOLD

Wauwinet Shadows Oil on Canvas panel, 12" x 16" SOLD at $70.00 plus shipping. A departure from the irises today, and back to landscapes. I'm really starting to itch to be outside, but today was simply still too cold and windy. There are robins though, so spring will eventually come to New England. Thanks for looking.

Iris Sectional Two - SOLD

Iris Sectional Two Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. This is a repeat of the Sectional piece from the other day, with a slight shift in the cropping of the photo. Since irises are my favorite flower, and I've been shooting photos of them for probably 20 years, I don't think I'll run out of images for awhile. This one is more subtle in person, the colors are somewhat garish here, especially the bright orange, which isn't really that intense. Thanks for looking.

Lavender Sectional Iris - SOLD

Lavender Sectional Iris
Oil on Stretched Canva, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping.

Wihtout access to my Photoshop, I'm apologizing for the image here. Not as sharp and clear as I like, but you get the picture, (no pun intended.) I was able to install software to download photos onto my daughter's computer from my camera, so I will be able to continue to post my paintings, until my computer is healthy again. Thanks for looking.

Technical Difficulties...

Please Stand By. Remember when that used to appear on the TV from time to time? Yes, that dates us, doesn't it? I went to post my painting for today, and fizzled my computer. Guess I've stored one too many photos, so no painting for tonight, although I do have one to put up. I'll see if I can't work with my camera and my daughter's computer tomorrow, but for now..."we are experiencing technical difficulties..."

Iris Sectional One - SOLD

Iris Sectional One
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping.
I really do like doing these square formats with portions of flowers showing. They seem so comfortable to do, rich colors, sensual forms. I do expect to do more of them. Thanks for looking.

Portrait Party Swap

Jana in Green T watercolor on 300 lb Richeson Paper NFS My first watercolor portrait, and even though it doesn't exactly match the photo, it has a nice feel to it. This is Jana Bouc, one of the artists I've come to know a bit through EDM. We are participating in a Portrait Party Birthday Contest on the Portrait Party Swap blog. What fun. You can see Jana's portrait of me, on her blog, and although it's done as a caricature, it feels like me. Anyone can participate, so if you're interested, the instructions are on the Portrait Party blog, and all you need is a willing partner.

Red Tulips Two - SOLD

Red Tulips Two Watercolor on 140 lb Arches watercolor paper, 14.5" x 19" image size SOLD at $100 plus shipping. This one was done on thinner pape, which needed soaking, stretching and stapling, so the image size is smaller, but there's plenty of stapled paper to work with for matting and framing. Paper size is 15" x 21.5", or half sheet size. This is the more formal, straightforward version of the same tulips as yesterday, from a sitting viewpoint. I've posted the two side by side in the next post. Thanks for looking.
