Just trying to loosen up, and paint more directly. Problem is in remembering to "draw tight, paint loose." If you've got it in your head be loose, it's tricky out of the gate to remind yourself to draw carefully beforehand. This one should have been lower in the format.

I see what you are saying. The brushstrokes are nice and loose and lovely, though!
ReplyDeleteLots of my instructors haven't wanted me to draw--just start sketching with my brush. I usually have a better composition if I draw it out first.
