Funky Figs - SOLD

Funky Figs Oil on Canvas Panel, 8" x 10" SOLD at $40.00 plus shipping. Well, this one is different. I have never bought, eaten or cooked figs, but a collector turned friend, brought me some from her fig tree. (Thanks, K.) Isn't that neat? They are lovely little fruits, all maroon and orangey at the bottom and this lovely yellow green at their little tops. I want to try a more serious pocket painting of just one or two tomorrow, and then figure out how to eat them. Peeled? Cut open, raw? Cooked? Meanwhile, because of the yellow polka dotted napkin under my bowl here, this one turned out a bit on the funky side, certainly not a traditional still life. http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/ NelVanL@aol.com

Dayglow - SOLD

Dayglow Oil on Canvas Panel, 8" x 10" SOLD at $40.00 plus $5.00 shipping. Sometimes when I've been doing a lot of still lifes, a landscape out of my imagination is refreshing to just do. Let the painting go where it wants to. Use some nice summery colors, add a touch of fallish feeling, put a little glow in the sky, and voila. Simple and refreshing. http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/ NelVanL@aol.com PS. For those of you who were concerned about a hacker, Rosanna is my daughter in law, and the Verizon phone and Internet service is in her name at the apartment. I am still not sure about how to send messages from the google group, but this litttle workaround seems to be okay for now. Thanks for your notes!

Pears with Blue Bowl - SOLD

Pears with Blue Bowl Oil on Stretched Canvas, 9" x 12" SOLD at $60.00 plus shipping. Using the same blue bowl as yesterday, and the tea towel from a kitchen drawer, I had fun with this one. I actually only have four pears, so I had to paint one and then move it to the other side. On this one I tried a combination of blending and not blending. The cloth is actually pretty painterly, more the direction I want to go, and the pears and bowl are my usual style. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. Fun, isn't it? http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/ NelVanL@aol.com

Blue Bowl with Tomato - SOLD

Blue Bowl with Tomato Oil on Canvas Panel, 8" x 10" SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping. Nice to have access to a whole bunch of pretty pottery, the lovely little bowl I found with the everyday dishes. And the tomato I'll eat at supper. I really like the color in this one, and I really tried not to blend and fuss like I usually do. It's a hard habit to get away from.

So this one is for my dear cousins, and they will know that it was painted by the light of their dining room wondow.

Pear and Blue Glass - SOLD

Pear and Blue Glass Oil on Stretched Canvas, 6" x 6" SOLD at $30.00 plus $5.00 shipping. Just as the light was getting low this afternoon, and I'd finished with a lot of running around, the light coming in the dining room window begged for something in front of it. I found a beautiful blue glass bottle, and set a pear in front of it. I liked the reflections on the white windowsill.

Dried Hydrangeas - SOLD

Dried Hydrangeas
Oil on Stretched Canvases, 6" x 6" each
SOLD at $40.00 the set plus $10.00 shipping.
It always takes a painting or two to get into gear when you are working in a different environment. I am staying at a cousin's home, and spotted a nice vase of dried hydrangeas with gorgeous colors. (The back yard is a dream. That's next.) So splashed some of the dried hydrangea colors onto a couple of small canvases this morning. Not my finest, but I'll get settled and have something more solid tomorrow.

Magnolias on My Mind - SOLD

Magnolias on My Mind Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 16" SOLD at $125.00 plus shipping. I have been working on a series of larger magnolia pieces, and you could call this one a practice painting. It's done on a slightly different canvas than the series, Winsor Newton canvas has more rounded edges. The background here looks black, but it is actually a deep, rich brown-maroon-purplish color.
