A happy little painting for the last day of December. Thank you all for your support and encouragement all through this past year. May each and every one have a blessed 2011.

Backyard Autumn - SOLD
Backyard Autumn
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 18" x 24"
SOLD at $100.00 plus $15.00 shipping.
I originally posted this one earlier this fall at $225, but it never sold at that price. It does me little good on my wall, even though it's a successful piece, so I figured I'd clear it out at a lower price. It's a good sized piece, and has some "presence." Good to get rid of some older paintings, I'm revising a couple today, which I'll post later (they are already sold, however, to one of my clever regular collectors.)

Clementines and Bowl - SOLD

Christmas Tree 2010 - SOLD
Christmas Tree, 2010
Pen and Ink with Gouache on Paper, 9" x 12"
SOLD.
I was so blessed last evening to be able to go to a wonderful service at my brother's church...wonderful singing, wonderful worship, a thought provoking message. It's here, already on their web site, so you can hear it too, if you are inclined. (Covenant Life Church)
I wish you all a meaningful Christmas, touched with warmth, music, laughter, good food, good family and friends, and a Christ centered year!

Little Blue Pitcher - SOLD
Little Blue Pitcher
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD
I really didn't think I'd get one done today, but I pushed this evening, and yes, here we go, a new painting. A bit high key, I moved my light to the opposite side from usual and I'm not used to it yet. Don't you like the pitcher, though? A find at one of my student's church's tag sale.

Blue Glazed Drape with Apples
Blue Glazed Drape with Apples
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10"
Available at $40.00 plus shipping.
This is another of my revised pieces. It looked like this before I revised it today. Much better, yes? I glazed the greenish looking drapery with blues.

December Garlic - SOLD
December Garlic
Oil on Canvas Panel, 8" x 10"
SOLD at $40.00 plus $5.00 shipping.
I did this milder version earlier this fall, and decided that I really wanted to punch it up. Good day to be inside painting, with the snow and slippery roads in the DC area today. A nice time at class this morning, when my dear ladies surprised me with a Christmas treat, a nice fat GC to Plaza Art, our local fine arts store, yeehaw! Thanks, ladies!

Red Pears Watercolor
Red Pears Watercolor
Watercolor on Aquabord, 8" x 8"
Available at $25.00 plus $5.00 shipping.
This one is on Aquabord, which is a wooden panel, treated to accept watercolor. I will be spray-fixing it, and then a coat of varnish, so it can be framed like an oil or an acrylic, with no glass or matting (unless you want it.) It can be shipped tomorrow.

Lemons with Pear Napkin - SOLD
Intermediate Oils Class Online
I've been working on a follow up class for my alumni for awhile now, adding ideas, reading and studying on my own. And I've gotten things to the stage in the writing where I can start enrolling. Class will begin the week of January 10, 2011, and with a couple of weeks off, we'll finish up the second week in March. Perfect for getting through the cold months. We have a new Yahoo group for the class, where lessons will be posted:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Intermediate_Oils
and we will also have a new Flickr group or you can simply put your work on your own Flickr or blog, as before.
You can enroll with this button, but also send me an email, so I can "invite" you to the new group. Cost of the class is $75.00.

Lemons and Mustard Bowl - SOLD
Field and Sky - SOLD
Field and Sky
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping.
I really want to work on skies this coming year. Clouds are something I've never been able to do to my own satisfaction, so there's one of my art goals right there. Though these clouds are fluffy and colored okay, they don't have the magic that I'm after. However, not a bad landscape, I like the colors in the field a lot, and that little bit of frost suggested.

Pears on Cherry Napkin - SOLD
Pears on Cherry Napkin
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $65.00 plus $10.00 shipping.
One of the things I bought awhile back at Tuesday Morning was cloth napkins. This is one of my favorites, but I hadn't used it in a painting yet. It just seemed to be the time. Made for a bit of a busy painting, but with the contrsting color of the pears, I think it works.
Saturday, December 11, 2010
White Onion - SOLD
White Onion
Oil on Artbord Panel, 6" x 6"
SOLD at $20.00 plus $5.00
This is the last of my fall paintings that were claimed but not purchased. This one is all set to go, so no waiting.
Thursday, December 09, 2010
Red Delicious Apples - SOLD
Wednesday, December 08, 2010
Amherst Autumn - SOLD
Amherst Autumn
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $50.00 plus $10.00 shipping.
This one was claimed but never purchased. So I've dropped the price, and am offering it again. It is dry, signed and varnished, so can go out right away, in time for a nice Christmas gift for someone who loves these kinds of colors.

Grandma's Kids - SOLD
Grandma's Kids
Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 12" x 24" x 1.25"
SOLD.
This is one of the last of my Christmas commissions. It was hard to push myself to do it, figures are hard, but once I got into the painting part, it was fun. One of the little guys still gets a couple of back -of -the -ear pieces for his glasses, but otherwise done. Isn't it sweet?

November Pansies, Repost
Oil on Artbord, 8" x 8" x 1/2"
SOLD at $40.00 plys $5.00 shipping.
This one was posted in November and was wanted ("sold"), but never redeemed or paid for. So now becomes available again. The edges are painted, so no frame is needed.

Friday, December 03, 2010
Bay Sunset - SOLD
Bay Sunset
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $40.00 plus $8.00 shipping.
OK. I did paint this afternoon, but didn't get one done. So here's this sunset one last time, with the water darkened. I promise that I won't post it again.

Two Apples, Pears and Bowls - SOLD
Wednesday, December 01, 2010
Poinsettia 2010 - SOLD
Poinsettia 2010
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping.
This is one from last year that didn't sell at $75.00. It was probably too close to Christmas, but I've always liked it. So I pulled it out this morning, and spruced it up a little, darkening some of the reds, brightening up the background a little. It might make a nice "get it out for the holidays" painting for someone.

Red Barn Three - SOLD

Winter Hydrangeas - SOLD

Deep Fall Hydrangeas - SOLD
Deep Fall Hydrangeas
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 8"
SOLD at $40.00 plus shipping.
I've had a wonderful time away. I was invited to go along to the Eastern shore with my dear cousin's family, and filled my senses with the wonderful sights, sounds and smells particular to "the beach house". Now back refreshed, thankful. And on the way back, I clipped some still beautifully colored hydrangeas off my cousin's back bushes. Ahhh. I've got another painting for tomorrow, slightly larger.

Red Bowl with Pears
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 8"
SOLD at $40.00 plus shipping.
A revision of an earlier painting also called Red Bowl with Pears. I changed the background and brightened up everything else. Much better.
Pansy Pair - SOLD

Dried Hydrangea
Dried Hydrangea
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10"
Available at $45.00 plus $5.00 shipping.
When my friend, B. and I wandered around Tuesday Morning recently, she spotted this great bowl in a cool mauvey-brown color, and pointed out that it would be perfect for a hydrangea blossom. I bought it, and have been planning to do that ever since.

Intimate Iris
Watercolor on Aquabord, 8" x 8"
SOLD at $30.00 plus $5.00 shipping.
I am running low on canvas, and have a watercolor to do, so thought I'd play with this little piece of Aquabord. With this, you only have to spray fix the watercolor (which I'll do, like a varnish), and then it's sealed, and you can frame it like an oil or acrylic, no glass. Cool, huh?

Just Peachy 2 - SOLD
Just Peachy 2
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD as replacement painting.
My friend sold her painting, Just Peachy, to someone else, and asked me to make a replacement painting. I tried to come as close as I could to her original, and this is what came out of it. Hope you're happy with it, D!

Agricultural Park - SOLD
Agricultural Park
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10"
SOLD at $40.00 plus $5.00 shipping.
It was so beautiful today in Maryland, that I hooked up with some of the Montgomery County Plein Air folks, and ventured out to our lovely agricultural park. I didn't last for more than 3 hours though, cold ears from the wind, glare on my canvas (from insisting on being in the sun) and chilly hands. I liked the dapples on this little shed.

Pink Pansies
Peony Tweaked - SOLD
Peony Tweaked
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 16"
SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping.
I always liked this one (Peony Bud Opening), and figured maybe I could tweak it up a bit and change the background color, and offer it again. I think the blue is better (it used to be green in the background.)

November Pansies - SOLD
November Pansies
Oil on Gessoboard, 8" x 8"
SOLD at $40.00 plus $5.00 shipping.
This panel has a small thickness of about 1/2" which will be painted. The panel has slots in the back for hanging, so once the edges are painted, it will need no framing. Happy to find pansies still at the Home Depot, besides all the mums and Christmas trees (potted ones, of course.)

Amherst Autumn Two - SOLD
Amherst Autumn Two
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
SOLD at $115.00 plus $10.00 shipping.
This one is pretty big, and was intended as yesterday's post, but it just didn't seem to want to be finished, so I worked on it some more today. It's a lot of canvas to cover lovingly and I'm quite pleased with the results.
