Odd today to be painting a sunny iris while the snow just poured down in the DC area, but that's what I had planned, so I put on some Christmas music and laughed at the contradiction. Nice to be in the middle of a snow storm if you don't have to go out, and the report was that there wasn't anyplace to go anyway, since everything was closed.

My dear cousins treated me to the most gorgeous, full bloomed pointsettia I've ever had, and so I just had to pick out a couple of the blooms to try with watercolors. I think there must be 30 separate blooms on the plant. Gorgeous! Thanks, H and D.

This one is a repeat of a plein air piece I did this past summer, looking out our 5th floor window. I changed it up a bit, and made the front roof more red. The collector who requested it opted to pass, and it happens from time to time. Sometimes a painting will just "sing" to you, and the repeat doesn't.
