Mandarin March - SOLD
Mandarin March
Oil on Canvas Panel, 9" x 12"
Sold at sale price, $25.00 plus shipping.
I have been wanting to try some more subtle colors for my backgrounds, and I find some greys just beautiful. Soft, warm, cool, subtle. So here is my first attempt to try something a bit off kilter for my background. I guess you could call it khaki and be on target. Using the mandarins from the trees again. My daughter harvested grapefruit today.

Magnolia One - SOLD
Magnolia One
Oil on Canvas Panel, 8" x 10"
SOLD at $40.00 plus shipping.
I bought this fake magnolia at Michael's with the intention of matching a painting to some of the white tulips I've done (to make a set.) This was just practice, since the colors are so warm. I will definitely try this flower again in a cooler shadow color. But hey, the silly fake flower cost $10.00, so I'll get my money's worth out of it.

Backyard Harvest - SOLD
Backyard Harvest
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 14" x 14"
SOLD.
The trees in the backyard are ready to be picked, and it's fun to watch Jim (my son-in-law) and the kids go out with bowls to fill from the trees. The mandarins and navels have been just as sweet as can be. I grabbed a few for this bag. Thanks for looking.

Avocado on Black Plate - SOLD
Avocado on Black Plate
Oil on Canvas Panel, 8" x 10"
SOLD at $40.00 plus shipping.
I bought a bunch of colored plates at Tuesday Morning when I lived in Maryland, so have my choices of plates for still lives. I decided to try this black one under the avocados, and it's very different for me to use black like this. It does make the avocado pop out, doesn't it?

Three Poppies - SOLD
Three Poppies
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14"
SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping.
I was playing here with the idea of a somewhat abstracted background, and I like how that turned out. It still has the feeling of "leafiness" without actually defining anything specific. I was also using a limited palette for this one, with odd (for me) blues and yellows, not my standard palette of colors. I used Prussian Blue and Indigo with Yellow Ochre.

Sunday Stroll - SOLD
Oil on Canvas Board, 12" x 16"
SOLD at $90.00 plus shipping.
This was an earlier painting, called Last Light, which I painted in the srping from a photo that I had taken. I did some revisions and like it even better. The nice thing about woodsy scenes is that when you add another layer, they just get richer and more interesting. This one has a lot of different little spots of color in it, and turned out very nicely. Click to see details.
