Blue Two - SOLD
Blue Two
Oil on Canvas board, 8" x 10"
Sold at $60.00 plus shipping.
The second hydrangea painting, done in a fast four hours this morning. Same stem of blossom as yesterday's painting, just turned a bit and in a different jar. I really liked it when it was in its sketching and turpentine stage, and I'm thinking of a painting now that is simply a sketch. Maybe tomorrow. This one is a little bolder and looser than yesterday's. Thanks for looking.

Blue Hydrangea - SOLD
Blue Hydrangea
Oil on Canvas board, 8" x 10"
Sold at $60.00 plus shipping.
It's so muggy out today that I decided not to do any plein air, and clipped a stem of my daughter's gorgoeus hydrangea bush instead. The blues and lavenders in these blossoms are so appealing. I purposely steered my colors towards more grayed tones, and I think the effect is soft and nice. I'm planning to do it again tomorrow, using the brighter colors again to see which one works better. This would look good in a room with blue decor. Thanks for looking.

Nagler Cross Road - SOLD
Nagler Cross Road
16" x 20", Oil on Canvas board
SOLD at $100 plus shipping.
This is a large and detailed painting, so I've raised my price. Doesn't it feel like summer? This one is of Nagler Cross Road in Huntington, and I feel that it turned out quite well. I tried to use a round brush today, since I always reach for the square brushes, and then just use them on the side. Silly, since there are round brushes for those strokes. Always have to reach for more and better. Thanks for looking.

Wauwinet Road July - SOLD
Wauwinet Road July
16" x 20", Oil on Canvas board
Sold at $85.00 plus shipping.
Yesterday was one of those gorgeous blue sky days, so I parked my easel in front of my daughter's driveway and painted the road (which actually looks more like a pathway here) with a large canvas balanced on my small easel. What really attracted me was the trees against the sky, the contrast against an incredible cobalt sky was startling. Wonderful! Thanks for looking.

Red Barns Barre - SOLD
Red Barns Barre
12" x 16", Oil on Gesso Board
Sold at $65.00 plus shipping.
I think there's a rule somewhere that says you can't paint in New England without doing barns and farms every so often. This one is just outside Barre town proper, along Route 57. On this painting, I tried to show the haze of the distance, and give the air a bit of a purple glow. I also tried to keep the bright colors I'm used to using a little less intense, grabbing some greys and complementary colors to tone things down. Thanks for looking.

Sunset Harbor Island - SOLD
Sunset Harbor Island
8" x 10", Oil on Canvas board
Sold at $50.00 plus shipping.
This is the finished version of the sunset painting shown earlier as a "work in progress". The refinements really help, and I think it captures that cool end of the day feeling that you often have walking the beach at this time of day. Don't you just want to go there? Thanks for looking.

Goss Hill Series- Rainy Mountain - SOLD
Rainy Mountain
16" x 20", Oil on Canvas board
Sold at $85.00 plus shipping.
This painting and the following five are all done plein air in a series from my friend Carl's home, mostly sitting on his front stone steps. What wonderful views, I hardly had to turn around. These are the foothills of the Berkshires, and the air and light was wonderful this past week. Hope you enjoy the series, I think they all turned out really well. Thanks for looking.
