Clouds Reflected - SOLD

Clouds Reflected
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
SOLD.

I wanted to do "Serene" over in a larger size, but decided I wanted more water showing, so here's what I got. I like it, and it felt good to paint larger again.

Demo and Quiet Cove - SOLD

Demo, Marsh and Sky
Oil over Acrylic on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10"
SOLD.

This one was for showing how to do clouds over a dry sky, and I added the foreground at home. I like the colors in the water especially.

Quiet Cove
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 16"
SOLD.

I loved the reference photos I used for this one, but in the execution.... well, let's just say that I'm considering scraping the entire thing to salvage the canvas. Once you've put in the hours though, you really hesitate to do that. Maybe it'll sing to someone.

These were done by request, but neither was precisely what the collector wanted, so they are up for grabs.

Simple Summer Field - SOLD

Simple Summer Field
Acrylics on Canvas Panel, 9" x 12"
SOLD.

My private student surprised me today. I thought it might be a challenge for her to take the lead, play teacher, pick colors to mix, and the order of execution. She not only chose wisely on the color mixes, but the speed at which she painted meant that we finished our lesson in half the time. I'm trying to decide if teaching this way is a success or not. She has certainly absorbed everything well.

Another rescued painting, also previously a daffodil that didn't.
Nothing like a palette knife for adding bits of color and blending them in.

Palette Knife Sunset - SOLD

Palette Knife Sunset
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 9" x 12"
SOLD.

Detail of Painting

This one started life as a daffodil that didn't, and not wanting to waste canvas, it had to be a palette knife painting overtop. I'm still not tired of the sky studies, and hope you aren't either.

Field Flowers, Acrylics - SOLD

Field Flowers, One
Acrylics on Canvas Panel, 9" x 12"
Palette Knife Technique
SOLD.

Field Flowers, Two
Acrylics on Canvas Panel, 9" x 12"
Brush Technique
SOLD.

What we'll be doing in class on Wednesday. Both are done with approximately the same simple composition, (their choice of flower colors, or no flowers) and with different tools. Some of my students like the palette knife, some prefer using brushes.

Cloud Study: Subtle - SOLD

Cloud Study: Subtle
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10"
SOLD.

Yet another in the ongoing cloud series. For this one, I tried to make the cloud formations very soft and quiet, but still retain some drama.

Grampa's Fishing Buddy - SOLD

Grampa's Fishing Buddy
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 24"
SOLD.

I've recently done a couple of paintings with this little guy for his grandmother, and I think he's so cute, that I wanted to do a third. (The horizon line really is straight.) You can click on it to see it larger. The commissioned pieces are below, both are 14" x 18" on stretched canvas:
