Pears with Glaze - SOLD

Pears with Glaze Oil with Glazing on Canvas Panel, 8" x 10" SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping. Glazing is something I've been wanting to try, especially since we did a value study in black and white for our online class (the one I'm teaching) and it seemed logical to try out some glazing. It isn't as easy as it sounds. The tricky part is getting the right amount of glaze, and not letting your colors turn to soup. The other hard part is the waiting between coats, almost like watercolors, but way slower. It's a technique that requires much patience, but gives an interesting and subtle effect. This one started out as below: Neat, huh? But many steps in between. The background turned into a mauvey purple tone, very nice. Thanks for looking.

Cool Waters - SOLD

Cool Waters Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10" SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping. Right now, with using up old canvases, I'm on a turquoise and lavender kick in these landscapes. It just seems so appealing to me, those lovely cool and bright colors. Just a small one today.

White Peony - SOLD

White Peony Watercolor on 140 lb Arches paper, 12" x 15" SOLD at $60.00 plus shipping. This one has been in the works for several days now, just getting a little petal paint from time to time. I lost the subtleties early on, so just decided to go with the boldness, go with the flow. It has more color than it really should have, but as my son always says "It is what it is."

Winter Puddles - SOLD

Winter Puddles
Oil on Canvas Board, 12" x 16"
Sold at sale price of $30.00.

The colors of winter. This photo just appealed to me today, with all the mauve and soft lavender, and those lucious muddly puddles. It's from a photo taken on... yeah, I know, again...Wauwinet Road, the wonderful road where I lived with my daughter and her family in Barre, Massachusetts. Hope you're all staying warm, and keeping hopes alive.

Sunny Archway

Sunny Archway Oil on Canvas Board, 8" x 8" Available at $30.00 plus shipping. This one used to be cantaloupe slices, the reclamation project continues (and besides I'm out of small canvases right now.) It's a small sectional of the larger painting from the other day (Broken Color 2) and it's from one of my Wauwinet Road photos. Sometimes working small is nice, too.

Broken Color Landscape 3 - SOLD

Broken Color Landscape 3 Oil on Canvas Board, 12" x 16" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. This is another reclaimed canvas board, from another painting that didn't really work. Good to use up some of these still good canvas boards. This is more or less a cross between the first and the second painting, with lots of yellows and purples. Well, it's Mardi Gras time, we see a lot of yellow, purple and green right now. I'm learning about King cakes too!

Broken Color Landscape 2 - SOLD

Broken Color Landscape 2 Oil on Canvas Board, 12" x 16" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. Since there was such a positive response to the landscape I posted the other day, done with broken color, I decided to do another one today. I took an old painting that wasn't very sucessful, sanded it down, and used the paint that was left as a background color (you can see some of the sky blue in spots at the bottom, since I turned the old piece upside down.) This is a really fun way to work, just dots and dabs everywhere.
