New toys to play with. Lyra Aquacolors are a densely pigmented water soluble crayon (yes, crayon) that you can draw with dry and then wet to watercolor, or use a wet brush to pick up pigment from the crayon and simply paint. Very fun. This one was done as an exercise on depicting water for Kate Johnson's watercolor pencil class, and the photo was taken and shared by a classmate. Thanks for looking.

I blocked this one in, and started to "finesse" it, blending, overworking, clarifying lines, but then, stopped myself. Before I got to the grapes and the orange. I'm trying to paint more freshly and directly. Aren't the grapes nice that way? Thanks for looking.

This one was done as a demonstration in my watercolor class (a couple of years ago), and then finished in detail later because I liked it so well. We were working on negative painting, painting the space rather than the form, explained so well by Linda Kemp in her fine and inspiring books. It could be cropped almost anywhere and still make sense. Thanks for looking.
